This song was originally performed by The Clovers in the 1950s, and is a play on the classic jazz tune, “The Darktown Strutters Ball”. The story of them showing the song to Ahmet Ertegun from Atlantic Records is hilarious.

FUN FACT: In the north, “c*ck” is slang for penis, but in the south, for hundreds of years “c*ck” referred to female genitalia too.
